After over twenty years as a media industry entrepreneur, John, as the founder of Mass Media, LLC and co-founder
and former President of Girton &
Associates is now an accomplished multimedia consultant spending
his time not only mentoring others in business, but also training and developing media staff within
organizations throughout the country in the areas of new media strategy, marketing and communications, leadership development and image/brand management.
John is a Communications Instructor and Director of Multimedia Services at Tennessee
State University in Nashville, Tennessee. He is an author and has contributed several articles to national and regional magazines. He was recently a guest blogger for Black Entertainment Television's Meet the Faith television program. John served two years on the national speakers
circuit as a featured speaker to high school and
college audiences with Making
It Count, a division of Monster Worldwide, Inc. When he isn't
training or traveling, he spends quality time with his wife and three children
and stays connected to his community serving as the Senior Pastor of The Loving Church in west Nashville.
John is a member of the Broadcast Educators Association, Nashville chapter of the Urban League, the National
Association of Black Journalists, and Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. John is the founder of the Youth
In Media Institute which is dedicated to educating under served youth
in the areas of audio, video, print and world wide web technologies. He is the author of the Technology Integration Project which is a Service Learning and Civic Engagement partnership between Tennessee State University and Metro Nashville Public School System. John
is the co-founder of Girton
Empowerment Ministries, Inc. along with his lovely wife LaWanda.
