T.I.P. Overview

Beginning in January of 2008, John E. Girton, Jr., Empowerment Speaker and Communications Instructor at Tennessee State University engaged TSU students and the Nashville community in an interdisciplinary and collaborative project that combined the resources of Communications, Education, Service Learning and Civic Engagement, the Center for Information Technology and the Metro Nashville Public School System's Westmeade Elementary School. Girton along with student volunteers Stephanie Woodruff and Theryn Bond coordinated two (2) junior level Mass Communication courses cooperatively with Elza Cruz and David Nelson, Educational Technology Master students from TSU and established a visionary initiative designed to create a powerful partnership between the institution and the local school system.

Expansion of T.I.P.
The organizers of the Technology Integration Program are working to launch programs in several schools and churches throughout Davidson County. If you wish to be considered as a host for the fall of 2008 or Spring 2009, contact the Program Coordinator for more information.
