What Shall I Render?
I believe that we, oftentimes, get confused with the question, "what shall I render [return] to the Lord For all His benefits [grace] toward me?" (Psalm 116:12) In light of all the blessings God has given to us we often offer God everything but what He truly desires. Yes, God wants your time, talents and treasure. But, there is a more fundamental, basic, and powerful request God makes of us all.
In Matthew 22:15-22 Jesus likens those who follow Him to a Roman coin. Just as Caesar received taxes because he was the current king, God is due something because He is the everlasting King. Like the coin with Caesar's name and likeness stamped on it, we, too, bare the name (Christian) and likeness of Jesus Christ. So, what are we to "render" or return to the Lord for what He has blessed us with? We are to return to Him the sacrifice of praise, service and thanksgiving for our LIVES. Never take God's gift of life for granted because His grace makes life possible.
